Nintendo just confirmed the existence of a new console and they say it will be launching next year. We’ve heard plenty of rumors this past week, and it’s a bit refreshing to see next gen approaching. For Nintendo it’s very important, since the Wii is waning and they need a successor to maintain the momentum.

Vikings Defeat Packers 30-23, Move To 4-0

Very good game! Was really looking forward to this game more then any of the year. Not disappointed! And I haven't been a true footbal fan since the days of Walter Payton and the Fridge on the bears. You know the backdrop – QB Brett Favre, now with the Vikings, goes up against his former team of 16 years at Mall of America Field at the HHH Metrodome on Monday Night Football. And the action actually lived up to the hype, as the Vikings scored 4 TDs and added a safety to defeat the Green Bay Packers 30-23.

The game was a back-and-forth affair for the 1st half, but the Vikings were able to take a 21-14 lead into the locker room at halftime thanks to a 1-yard Adrian Peterson TD run with just 30 seconds to play in the 2nd quarter. Then early in the 2nd half, Favre lofted a pass down the left sideline for Bernard Berrian, who sped under the ball and hauled it in for a 31-yard score that put the Vikings up 28-14.

A sack of Aaron Rodgers in the endzone during the 4th quarter put the Vikings up 30-14 and then the Purple was able to hold off a late-charging Packers team at the end of the game to produce the winning 30-23 margin.

Favre was vintage Favre, going 24 of 31 for 271 yards and 3 TDs, with zero interceptions. Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress has described Favre as an “equal opportunity passer” and the QB was exactly that on Monday night, completing passes to 8 different players and a different player on each of his 3 scoring throws. - Read More On Vikings Official Website.

LOS ANGELES, CA October 2, 2009 – Ghost House Pictures has announced today the establishment of SPOOKY PICTURES, a production label dedicated to the financing, development, production and distribution of scary movies made for the family audience.

The first project under the new label, in collaboration with friends and partners Sony Pictures and Stars Road Entertainment’s Joshua Donen, will be THE SUBSTITUTE. Scott Derrickson and Paul Harris Boardman (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will scribe the remake of acclaimed writer/ director Ole Bornedal’s 2007 Danish language thriller of the same name, with Derrickson directing. The project is being developed in cooperation with Columbia Pictures, which has an option to co-finance and distribute the picture domestically. Columbia has a first-look to distribute this and future films from Spooky Pictures.

The film will be produced by filmmakers Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, the Spider-Man franchise) and Rob Tapert (30 Days of Night, The Grudge films) through their new Spooky Pictures shingle in association with Thura Films. Russell Hollander and Nathan Kahane will executive produce alongside the makers of the Danish film Ole Bornedal and Michael Obel. Tendo Nagenda and J.R. Young will shepherd for Spooky Pictures.

THE SUBSTITUTE follows a terrified 6th grade class as they race to reveal to their parents that their new substitute teacher is an evil alien being.

Boardman and Derrickson previous collaborations include Exorcism of Emily Rose and THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. They are repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and attorney Karl Austen of Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein. Sam Raimi is represented by CAA and attorney Craig Jacobson. Ole Bornedal is repped by WME, Danny Sherman at Principal Entertainment and attorney Andrew Hurwitz at Schreck Rose Dapello Adams & Hurwitz. Michael Obel is repped by WME. Neve Campbell Joins Scream 4 Cast

Sharpen your blades, horror flick lovers. Scream, the seminal slasher flick from mad man movie maker Wes Craven, is set to start filming it's fourth installment with many of the original cast members returning, including Sidney herself, Neve Campbell. Campbell has confirmed that she will be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott just a few days after co-star David Arquette said she probably wouldn't do it. Even director Wes Craven said he thought it wasn't very likely that she would return. But now, almost a decade after Scream 3, Sidney will return as the horror heroine. Joining her in the mayhem are real-life married couple Courtney Cox and David Arquette, who have a long history together with franchise.

"I fell in love with my wife on Scream," Arquette said. "It's just going to be really fun."

Also returning will be The Vampire Diaries writer Kevin Williamson (who penned the first two films) and super producer Bob Weinstein. It will be his job to make sure number four does as well as the first three.

Spider-Man 4 Gets an IMAX Upconvert on May 5, 2011 - Fandomania.com

Columbia Pictures and the IMAX Corporation are press releasing this morning, letting us know that they will be releasing Spider-Man 4 on May 5, 2011 on the biggest of the big screen formats. This announcement comes hot off the heels of speculation from actor Bruce Campbell about the project’s start date, which allegedly will be in January. The only problem is that Spider-Man 4 will not be shot using IMAX technology, but rather re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience.

That doesn’t seem to weigh heavy on the execs at Sony and IMAX though. They seem pretty stoked about the whole ordeal:

“The last two Spider-Man releases have been available in IMAX theaters, and we’re very much looking forward to our return to a wider IMAX theatre network with this exciting new chapter in the continuing adventures of Spider-Man,” said Rory Bruer, President, Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing. “The addition of so many new IMAX locations will give even more fans of Spider-Man an opportunity to experience the action and adventure in a unique way.”

“Spider-Man continues to be one of the world’s most popular motion picture franchises, and we are very excited to include the latest chapter as part of our 2011 slate,” said IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond. “Our network has grown significantly and we continue to roll-out new theaters virtually every week, giving more moviegoers the opportunity to experience the movie in IMAX.”

Kurt Cobain's Widow Wants To Sue Guitar Hero 5 Makers

Courtney Love is threatening to sue Activision over Kurt Cobain being an unlockable character in Guitar Hero 5 and took to her Twitter page to scream bloody murder. Of course this was probably to save her own ass because, surprise! Guess who signed the agreement and the back of the check. TMZ reports:

Cobain's widow just unleashed a serious Twitter attack on Activision -- the game developer -- saying they never got her permission to use Kurt's image ... and she wouldn't have given it to them if they had asked. Here's a sample:
"not in twenty JILLION years would i EVER have allowed this and this islethal."
"we get NO money for this, travesty, Frances gets NO money for the rape."

Activision released the following statement:
"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero® 5."

In a less crazy corner, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic issued a statement voicing their disappointment, the AP reports:

"While we were aware of Kurt's image being used with two Nirvana songs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character," they said. "This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge Activision to do the right thing in 're-locking' Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future."

UPDATE: So apparently Rolling Stone has an interview with Activision back in August where they reveal "Courtney supplied us with photos and videos and knew exactly what she wanted Kurt to look like." JASON NEWSTED On METALLICA's ROCK HALL Induction: 'The Black Album Band Will Be Back Together'

Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted has confirmed to RollingStone.com that he's going to perform with the band at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with guitarist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett, and the man who replaced him, bassist Robert Trujillo. "The 'black album' band will be back together and mow the shit down," he is quoted as saying. Newsted says former bassist Ron McGovney will also be on hand for the honors, as will Ray Burton, the father of the man Newsted replaced, the late Cliff Burton.

"There's three bass players getting inducted, and James, Lars and Kirk," he tells RollingStone.com. Former guitarist Dave Mustaine, who now fronts MEGADETH, will not be inducted, however. "It's not my decision," Jason says. "I have nothing to do with that. It was decided by the band, and I think it was just a hard-and-fast rule… anyone who has recorded on any METALLICA recordings that have been released to the public as an official release were invited to the induction. So, that's kind of that."

According to Newsted, it was Ulrich who made the "very recent" call, inviting him to Cleveland for the induction. "I talked to Lars, and it's all good," Newsted says. "I was happy to hear from him. Megadeth New Album - 11 songs and 1 Instrumental

The new Megadeth album is almost complete and it looks like we are looking at a possible September release. Dave posted on the Megadeth Official Forums that the new album well contain 12 songs total, one of which is going to be a instrumental. Here is the post from Dave....

The weekend is upon us!

Today is the first weekend that I have been home since the tour ended, and I have a lot of work to do around my house. Shoot! Between the animals and the kids, we have a real sizable list of things to replace. Hell, just the lightbulbs alone will be a forearm workout. I just have to remember to do half the bulb replacements standing on my head so I can get even reps.

As many of you no doubt have seen on our home page, the Scars to Freedom event is cancelled. I am disappointed about this because I really thought this would be something even more off the beaten path than the Affliction Banned MMA event. It turned out to be unfortunately more like "Spinal Tarp" at the Air Force Base.

I am now back focusing on the remaining lyrics for this new record. We have 11 songs for the states and a bonus song for Japan, and we are almost done picking the 12 faithful soldiers to go on this new record. There are 11 tracks with vocals and one instrumental, and I have six more lyrics to go, which I am more than confident will come easily.

I have a meeting with Megadeth's manager today, and it should be interesting because of the nature of two of the many topics and the people involved. You see we have some more opportunities to play this summer, and to make some appearances, and I am not sure that this is what we want.
